The ICS CXP-APE assault rifle was made from metal and high quality polycarbonate polymer. A two part receiver together with the iron sights and keymod grip were made from metal, while the profiled pistol  grip, stock and flipup iron sights were made from a polymer.
A known and characteristic feature of all M4 type replicas by ICS is the unique, twopart design of the receiver that enables rapid exchange of the upper module and adapt the power of the replica to the requirements of the current situation on the battlefield. In order to maintain correct placement of gears when assembling the receiver, the manufacturer has implement a ratio release mechanism that upon setting the fire mode selector plate to safe, sets it in default position. This allows to significantly prolong the lifetime of a replica.

The stock does not only fold to the right side and feature 6setting adjustment, but also has an adjustable cheek pad. Inside is room for the battery storage and a fuse. Noteworthy is also the fact that the replica features an electric blowback system that sets the bolt in motion when firing. The replica was created with both left and righthanded users in mind. The fire mode selector and magazine release button are both doublesided and the charging handle can be attached either on the left or right side.
Outer elements are fully compatible with parts from other renowned companies with the exception of the gearbox skeleton, nozzle and tappet, of course. A standard in this replica all internal parts are reinforced, which means it is an ideal base for any further development or tuning.
